Welcome...

Hello dear readers,

WELCOME.

This is the shiny new Black Coffee Theatre blog.

We are currently rehearsing a production of THE SEAGULL and thought it might be quite nice to keep you up to date with what we've been getting up to.

We have a rather wonderful cast of actors working on this project, so first things first, let me introduce you to them...

LUKE ADAMSON

Luke was born and brought up in Yorkshire. Previous theatre work includes Rabbitskin (West Yorkshire Playhouse and UK Tour) Sidney James in Hancock’s Half Hour – The Lost Episodes (Hambledon Productions) Brian Looks Like Alan Rickman (Black Coffee Theatre), Adrian in The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13 and 3/4 (Workshop Theatre) All My Son’s, Brassed Off, andEnjoy, all at York Theatre Royal. The Cherry Orchard, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Road, and the UK Premiere of Sandholm by Anna Bro (ALRA).
TV credits include HeartbeatThe Royal Today(ITV) The Garden (BBC/Tiger Aspect)

NINA BRIGHT

Nina’s theatre credits include Cloudstreet, Lysistrata and Skellig (ALRA), Too Busy To Think Of A Title and The Violinist (Kinkyfish), The Alchemist (Dunnico Theatre) Dorothy and The Scarecrow (Oneday Theatre and Lonesome Schoolboy Productions), Stand Up Comics (Sigil Club Productions) and a run at the Edinburgh Fringe 2011, where she performed at the Traverse Theatre as an Embedded Dancer in Dance Marathon (Bluemouth inc). Film credits include An American Tourist in London and Clarity (Old Duck Films), Survivors (Initiative Film&Television). Radio includes Avoid a Minority: The Munich Meeting (Audio Shorts)


DR EUGENE DORN

GREGORY COX

Gregory trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School after graduating from Manchester University in English and Philosophy. He began his career at the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham, appearing in ten productions including T. S. Eliot’s The Confidential Clerk and The Merchant of Venice. He then joined the cast of Oliver! in the West End to play Mr Sowerberry. He was Harris in Little Lies with John Mills (Wyndhams Theatre and Toronto). He has toured the Middle and Far East with Derek Nimmo’s company playing Dr Gibbs in Only When I Laugh and the UK with the National Theatre as Captain Brice in Stoppard’s Arcadia.
Other theatre work includes Don Juan (Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith), Dr. Alan Campbell in The Picture of Dorian Gray (Windsor and UK tour), Charley in Death of a Salesman (Frankfurt English Theatre), The Dybbuk (BAC), Dr Grubshaw in Commanding Voices (New End), Sir Toby in Twelfth Night (Wimbledon), Defarge in Tale of Two Cities (Sheffield Crucible), Mark in Taking Steps (Vienna), Brassett in Charley’s Aunt (Cannizaro Park), Sir Lucius in The Rivals (Holland Park), Claudius in Hamlet (Rose Theatre), Hostpur in Henry IV Part One (St. Georges, London), Edmund in King Lear (Colchester), Canutus in Edmund Ironside (Bridge Lane), Stepan Verkhovensky in Dostoyevsky’s The Devils (Union Theatre, London) and Leonato in Much Ado About Nothing (Oxford Castle).
In 2006 he toured the USA playing Antonio in The Merchant of Venice for Actors from the London Stage.
TV and film work includes roles in Coronation Street (Laurence Carnegie), Poirot (final episode),Eastenders, Suspension of Disbelief, Dancing on the Edge, Doctors, Trial and Retribution, Greg in Killer Net, Picking up the Pieces, In Suspicious Circumstances, Maigret, Get Up Stand Up, Grace and Favour, Keeping Up Appearances, Mr.Dutton in Brookside, Wiggis in Bad Boyes, Robin of Sherwood, Grange Hill, DI Rawlings in Making a Killing and Dr. Francis Willis in Bedlam.
He has appeared at the Cheltenham Literary Festival in The Poetry of War with Dame Judi Dench and recorded many Shakespeare roles for Smartpass Audio.

MARIA CROCKER

Maria’s theatre credits include: Hansel and Gretel (Mad Alice Theatre Company) Junk (Tara Arts) Merry Wives Of Windsor(Sam Wanamaker Festival) Let’s Have Sex (Black Coffee Theatre) and several rehearsed readings/scratch nights at ARC Stockton. Film credits include: Peace Warriors (Bullion Productions) Television credits include: E4 School of Performing Arts (Channel4) Stanley Kubricks Small Boxes: Callsheet (Channel 4)
Maria has just finished working with Northern Stage’s new company “North”

Julia trained at The Guildford School of Acting. Recent theatre credits include: Lottie in Brainville At Night (The Jack Studio Theatre), Mother in The Red Shoes (Etcetera Theatre), Moira in Christmas Bombshells (Old Red Lion), Dionyza and Bawd in Pericles (The Rose, Bankside), Laura in Judy, The Righteous (Trafalgar Studio & King’s Head), Alice Meynell in Hound (Riverside Studios), First Witch in Macbeth (Upstairs at The Gatehouse & Barons Court), Tamora in Titus Andronicus (Action To The Word), and understudy for Carlotta & Hilde in Noel Coward’s A Song At Twilight (UK tour). Julia has also played Mrs Clerimont in The Tender Husband (UK tour), Martha Darby in Ironmistress and Martha in Bits of Obits. LEONNA MCGILLIGAN

Originally from the small town of Annan in Dumfries and Galloway, Leonna trained at Queen Margaret University and ALRA.
Her credits include The Magdalene Sisters (PFP Films), Mum’s Birthday (Pilton Video), She’s Dead of Course (Edinburgh Fringe), Hilda & The Home Front (Engross Theatre Group), Marilyn Painted Pictures (SpartaKi). She has also appeared in advertising campaigns for HSBC and Jet2.
Leonna also enjoys writing and is currently developing an idea for her first sit-com.
She is delighted to be working with Black Coffee Theatre on this exciting project.

PETER NOLAN

After a full working life Peter retired at the age of 59 and went to Bristol Old Vic Theatre school to retrain as actor. His recent work includes Jake in a short film called ‘Beneath’ and Cromwell’s adviser in ‘Bloody Tales’. Theatre work includes Sir in ‘The Dresser’: Michael in ‘Then Comes the Night Jars’ and Thomas in ‘Short Fuses’ Theatre Royal Bristol: The Spirit in ‘Forget me not’, C S Lewis in ‘Shadowlands: Mr Craven in ‘Enjoy’ at the Theatre Royal York. Frank in ‘Educating Rita’: Macrobius in ‘The Hypochondriac’ Belgrade Theatre Coventry. Sir Tunbelly in ’The Relapse’ Graham in ‘A Chip in the Sugar’: Bottom in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream: Mortimer in ‘The Fantastics’: TV work includes Emmerdale, Peak Practise, ‘Kid in the Corner’ Tiger Aspects: ‘Trapped’ ITV: ‘The Project’ BBC: ‘Little Kingsley’ BBC: ‘Killing Mum and Dad’ Sky: ‘United’ Calton Television. SIMON MEDVEDENKO

Felix O Brien

FELIX O’BRIEN

Felix’s theatre credits include The Communion of Lilies (Barons Court), The Laramie Project, Welcome to Thebes, The Ash Girl (ALRA) and From the Calton to Catalonia (Tramway). Whilst training, he was fortunate enough to represent ALRA at both The Sam Wanamaker Festival at Shakespeare’s Globe and for the BBC’s Carleton Hobbs Radio Bursary.
Most recently, he was working on the final research and development for The Four Little Children Who Went Round The World with Jenkins Ait. He has also written and directed plays for young people, and is currently working on his first play for an adult audience. The Seagull is his first UK tour.

SIMON VICTOR

Simon is thrilled to be working with BCT on this superb production.
He graduated from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School last July.
